REVIEW APPOINTMENTS
Standard follow up appointments are 30 minutes. In some cases, if shorter or longer appointments are appropriate, this will be advised.
Telehealth appointments – The video link is within the patient portal. Go to your appointment details and click on “join session“.
If there are internet connection issues, Dr Gajjar will call you on the phone.
MEDICARE REBATES
Once you have attended in person, for the next 12 months, medicare rebates apply for telehealth appointments. Hence, where possible, try to come in person for your first appointment. Once you have attended in person, either as new or follow up patient, medicare rebates will apply for future telehealth appointments (whilst both doctor and patient in Australia).
Once payment is received, after the consultation, Medicare will be notified and your rebate will be credited into your nominated bank account (eligibility criteria apply). If you are over the medicare threshold, a higher amount of the gap will be refundable. Allow up to 3 working days to receive the medicare rebate.
TELEHEALTH WHILST OVERSEAS
In accordance with current Medicare guidelines, consultations are not eligible for a Medicare rebate if either the doctor or the patient is located outside Australia at the time of the appointment.
Please note that Dr Gajjar travels abroad frequently. Whilst abroad, a limited number of private consultations may be offered to support continuity of care. These appointments are privately billed and not eligible for a Medicare rebate.
Private consultation options (listed at the end of the appointment categories) are specifically available when Dr Gajjar is practising from outside Australia.
We endeavour to provide advance notice of any periods when Dr Gajjar will be away, so that patients can schedule appointments in a timely manner and ensure repeat prescriptions or other requests are addressed beforehand.
