Autoimmune Conditions

Autoimmune conditions include Hashimoto’s, Grave’s disease, Coeliac disease, Ulcerative Colitis, Crohn’s disease, Rheumatoid Arthritis and Multiple Sclerosis.

Autoimmune conditions are becoming increasingly more common.  Apart from genetic susceptibility, there are several lifestyle and environmental factors that can trigger and it and continue to give symptoms. Relevant lifestyle interventions that can help with autoimmune conditions include dietary changes (especially in relation to gluten and dairy as well as other foods in the autoimmune protocol) and addressing nutritional deficiencies, sleep hygiene, reducing environmental toxin load and last but certainly not least, stress management.

There is also an array of complementary therapies including evidence based herbs and nutrients that have been shown to help with autoimmunity. Looking at the gut is important as this is where most of our immune system is housed. An integrative medicine approach can be extremely helpful in dealing with autoimmune conditions.
