Let every day be Christmas…
“Let Every Day Be Christmas” – Norman Wesley Brooks
* Christmas is forever, not for just one day, for loving, sharing, giving, are not to put away like bells and lights and tinsel, in some box upon a shelf. The good you do for others is good you do yourself. Peace on Earth, good will to men, kind thoughts and words of cheer, are things we should use often and not just once a year. Remember too the Christ-child, grew up to be a man; to hide him in a cradle, is not our dear Lord’s plan. So keep the Christmas spirit, share it with others far and near, from week to week and month to month, throughout the entire year!*
The Christmas BUZZ! Christmas can mean different things to people all around the World. From parties and decorative lights, Santa and gifts by the tree, family and friends, merely having some time off from work, plenty of eating and drinking – to honouring the true message of Christmas. There is no judgement here whatsoever. It is what it is to you- and that is your prerogative.
I briefly wanted to reflect upon one meaning of Christmas – so let’s just take a minute away from the busy schedule of the festive season and contemplate on this…
Christmas is a time to honour the infinite Christ –consciousness that Jesus expressed, so that we may awaken this divine power within ourselves. Each and every one of us is a spark of divinity, a child of the Divine. Let us see and honour this in each other and not be disillusioned by the external differences, that are influenced by ego and our “shadows” (Jungian psychology). Having done some reading around the philosophies of different religions and traditions ever since I can remember, it is the similarities that I continue to find the most astonishing- not their differences. All major religions have their exoteric (outer) and esoteric (inner) aspects to them. The exoteric includes the outer image, dogma and doctrine whereas the esoteric includes the divine union with God (“yoga”). Ultimately, all faiths have this one common goal and this is the thread that connects them. The messages of all the Great Ones was ultimately to guide us towards the light.
Let’s not forget that Jesus did not discriminate in any way whatsoever.
“Do you not know that your bodies are temples of the Holy Spirit, who is in you, whom you have received from God? You are not your own. Therefore honor God with your bodies.” – Corinthians 6:19-20 New International Version
Let us live from a place of love, peace, hope, joy, compassion, generosity and humility and invite the power of forgiveness and truth. Be silent and travel to that sacred place within, meditate upon and experience your own divinity. Feel and express the Christ-consciousness that is inherent within you.
“When the Christ Consciousness comes to you, you find within you the whole cosmos, with whirling worlds and universes hanging like ornaments around the Christmas tree of the spine. That is how Jesus celebrated “Christmas,” the birth of Christ Consciousness within him.” − Paramahansa Yogananda. The Second Coming of Christ: The Resurrection of the Christ Within You
A very happy Christmas and New Year to you all…
Lokah samastha sukhino bhavantu– Sanskrit phrase = “May all beings everywhere be happy and free. May the thoughts and actions of my own life, contribute in some way, to the happiness and freedom for all”.
